Barak, the "Back-Seat" Administrator

Let me get this straight. According to the lead story on Yahoo, the Obama Administration in Japan has decided the situation has deteriorated to the point that Americans on the island need to be evacuated. That should get him a big hurrah, at least from the standpoint of the Americans being evacuated. As far as the rest of the U.S. and the world, not so much.

The point is, all of the other countries who had citizens in Japan did that days ago. While everybody else was skeedadling home, our people were stranded (most without utilities, scant food, etc.) while the Obama Administration agonized over the decision to bring our people home.

Let’s see…was there sufficient evidence that the situation was critical? Check! Were Americans in a position to incur possible harm? Check! Would the evacuation of approximately 600 more people ease the burden on Japan? Well, a little, so Check! And last, but not least, was it our duty to our people to see to their welfare as citizens of the United States? Big Check!! Just to validate that checklist, let’s take a look what happened, shall we? An earthquake slammed Japan around first, followed by a Tsunami that reached heights inland of 20 feet

According to the article, the State Department authorized “voluntary” departure for Americans in Japan. Can anyone imagine a reason to stay? Also the same geniuses at State are urging Americans defer travel to Japan. Anyone straining at the bit for a vacation in Japan right now? Let’s get a glimpse at Japan now, just as a reminder of what this alluring vacation spot looks like right now…

Obama's Ineptitude

Bottom line, this is just another of many fine examples of the Obama Administration’s ability to ignore the serious nature of disasters affecting the American people. Remember the Gulf Oil Spill? Obama played golf after comparing the gravity of the disaster to 9/11! Oh, and by the way, he thought golf was the appropriate thing to do after Japan was devastated, and before he evacuated the Americans there. Oh, and he filled in his brackets for "March Madness" before turning his attention to the Americans in Japan.

Is it necessary to enumerate any more of Obama’s shortcomings as a leader? Isn’t a President supposed to be hard at work in the face of disaster, collecting advice, making quick and relevant decisions for the welfare of those involved? Not “O”, he’s slow to react, slow to resolve, and slow to respond…unless someone wants to play golf…
